Nitaj competition Details
TOBA Achieves First Place in Nitaj Competition!
We are thrilled to announce that TOBA has secured first place in the prestigious “Nitaj Competition” under the Biology Group at Sultan Qaboos University. Focused on the theme, “Biotechnology Applications to Align with Oman Vision 2040,” the competition provided an incredible platform to showcase our innovative approach. Our winning project addresses the challenge of construction cracks with a sustainable solution: using calcite-precipitating microorganisms for self-healing concrete. This advanced biotechnology not only extends infrastructure lifespan but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions, perfectly aligned with Oman Vision 2040.
TOBA Showcased at University Day Exhibition
We were honored to participate in the University Day exhibition, where TOBA’s project was recognized as one of the top innovations supported by the Innovation & Technology Transfer Center this year. About TOBA At TOBA, we harness biotechnology to create bio-cement through microbial-induced calcite precipitation (MICP), addressing construction cracks while reducing the cement required for maintenance. Our self-healing technology extends infrastructure longevity and lowers carbon emissions, aligning seamlessly with Oman’s Vision 2040. TOBA Showcases Innovation at Biban Forum in Saudi Arabia
During our visit to the Biban Forum, we presented our TOBA project, introducing its vision and potential to a wide audience. Our main goal was to attract collaborators, developers, and investors interested in supporting and advancing the project.
We also attended several workshops focused on business, startups, and innovation, which helped us sharpen our knowledge and gain valuable insights for the further development of TOBA.
Furthermore, we had the opportunity to visit several universities around Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where we explored potential collaborations with academic institutions, researchers, and student innovators. These visits opened doors for future partnerships and knowledge exchange, contributing to the project's long-term growth.
The forum and related activities provided excellent networking opportunities and significantly boosted the visibility of TOBA among key stakeholders.
TOBA at the Standards and Metrology Forum for a Sustainable Economy
We participated in the Standards and Metrology Forum for a Sustainable Economy, held in Ibra, North Sharqiyah Governorate, Oman, where we had the opportunity to present our project to the local community and industry experts, particularly in the field of cement and construction materials. This forum was a valuable platform to showcase our project's importance and potential impact in addressing pressing community needs. Through direct engagement, we gained the community's trust and interest, highlighting our solution's relevance and necessity.
Moreover, the forum allowed us to exchange ideas with specialists and stakeholders, providing us with diverse perspectives that will contribute to enhancing and developing the project further. This experience not only expanded our professional network but also strengthened our understanding of the market requirements and standards essential for the project's success.
